The Marengo Economic Development Commission (the Commission) was created in 2005 to promote community and economic growth through effective business planning, proactive business retention, and coordinated recruitment of new businesses for the city.

Consisting of nine members appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council, the Commission meets at 7:30am on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Meeting location and agenda will be posted at City Hall prior to each meeting.

Under authorization created by ordinance, the Commission has hired an Economic Development Coordinator (EDC) to design and implement programs that will carry out the directions of the Commission. The EDC shares office space with the Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce, located at 116 South State Street, Marengo IL.
