- The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has been in existence for many years under the purview of the City of Marengo. In July of 1998, the City decided to expand the original organization to include an active ad-hoc committee under EMA for the purposes of additional input in the area of planning, mitigating, responding and recovering from a man-made or natural disaster.
- ......
- To this end, the "Disaster Committee" was formed and has been continuously meeting on a regular basis to address these aforementioned points.
- ......
- This committee as well as EMA has been very actively training since its’ inception and continues to plan major drills along the lines of realistic scenarios that could possibly affect the Marengo area. The drills are organized to test the capabilities of our emergency responders (Police, Fire, and EMS) as well as the continuity of our government.
- ......
- We will continue to dedicate ourselves to improving the safety and security of our citizens and our community through the best use of available technology and equipment that the City affords us. We recently added an additional outdoor weather warning siren to bring our sirens up to three and as our community expands, we will explore purchasing more sirens for maximum coverage.
- .......
- Meetings are posted and open to the general public. Should anyone require additional information concerning EMA or the Disaster Committee, please feel free to contact Deputy Chief Joseph Hallman at the Marengo Police Department (815-568-7231 / send e-mail).
