Due to the unseasonably dry weather we have experienced, and with no outlook for relief in the near future, Mayor Donald Lockhart has instituted a water conservation initiative for the City of Marengo to insure an adequate supply of potable water for general consumption and fire suppression. As a pre-emptive measure, an odd/even water restriction is in effect. The use of City water for non-essential purposes including vehicle washing, lawn and landscape watering, filling of pools and the watering of gardens through hoses in the residential zoning district shall be limited to usage by even numbered households on even numbered days and odd numbered households on odd numbered days. This odd/even water restriction shall remain in effect until further notice. Citations will be issued for violations to this watering conservation initiative. For more information, please contact the Marengo City Hall at 815-568-7112.
