| The Marengo police pension fund was founded in 198l. This fund was established as a benefit to the Marengo police officers and their families, upon the officers retirement after years of dedicated service to the citizens of Marengo.
The Marengo police pension fund is governed by the police pension board that consist of four members, two of the members are appointed by the mayor and serve a two year term, the other two members are elected by the officers themselves and also serve a two year term.
The pension is funded by a tax levy and a portion of each sworn officers salary. The fund is managed by Amcore bank investments and is guided by the investment policy of the Marengo police pension fund, the Illinois department of insurance, and state laws.
The board meets four times a year to discuss pension issues and to chart the progress of the fund. The following are the dates ,times, and places the board will hold its meetings for the year(s) 2004/2005, anyone is welcome to attend these meetings.
