CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT PARKING
Recently the Marengo Police Department has fielded several complaints regarding vehicle parking in the Central Business District. This posting is just a reminder that downtown patrons and business owners alike should make a conscious effort to respect and follow the parking regulations so all can enjoy the downtown experience. The exact regulation is posted below.
15.06(F) TWO-HOUR PARKING:
Unless otherwise posted, two-hour parking shall be permitted in the Central Business District.
Specifically, complaints focus on vehicles being parked in the Central Business District, for longer than the allotted time limit. If downtown patrons and business owners are intending to stay in the area for longer than two hours, it is recommended individuals use the City’s Municipal Lots, which are conveniently located to allow access to the Central Business District. Please remember allowing for the flow and rotation of vehicles in the downtown area helps to stimulate patronage to our businesses, which benefits the entire community. At the very least compliance to the above stated regulation is the courteous thing to do for our fellow residents and patrons alike. Thank you in advance for assisting the Marengo Police Department in preserving the qualities of our town.
15.14 TRAVEL TRAILERS AND RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
Parking of travel trailers, utility trailers or other recreational vehicles shall only be permitted behind the front property line between the dates of April 15 and October 15. The parking area must be paved in accordance with Chapter 8, off street parking and loading. After October 15 and prior to April 15, the parking of travel trailers, utility trailers and/or other recreational vehicles shall only be permitted behind the building setback line.
DROP-OFF BOX
For your convenience, the City of Marengo now has two 24 hour drop-off boxes located at the City Hall office main entrance at 132 E. Prairie Street, as well as the entrance off of the municipal parking lot.
