Metra
Currently, both Harvard and Woodstock offer the closest locations to use Metra. This commuter rail service connecting Chicago to its suburbs has expressed interest in expanding passenger service from Big Timber Station in Elgin to Marengo. The expected time frame for this expansion is 5-10 years. The passenger station is likely to be located on the western side of the city.
Amtrak
This passenger rail service is going to be running through Marengo as an effort to connect the Quad Cities with Chicago. This service is apart of the Federal Government American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to bring high speed rail service to the United States. McHenry County is lobbying for an Amtrak station in the County. If they are successful, the station will end up in Marengo or Huntley.
