Chicago Rockford International Airport
Thirty miles west of Marengo is one of the mid-west’s best-kept secrets. This small passenger airport is one of the most active cargo airports in the US. The airport has been landing over 1 billion pounds of cargo annually since 1997. Part of the reason for this airport’s success is UPS’ second largest hub at 1.5 million square feet. In addition, the Chicago-Rockford International Airport administers Foreign-Trade Zone #176, which can drastically reduce import taxes for foreign products to use in American manufacturing.
Union Pacific has a railway running through the heart of Marengo. These tracks run from Chicago to Rockford and are rated for 134 tons. There are several properties for sale along the tracks. Go to our Railroad Page for more information.
Although several intermodal sites exist within two hours of Marengo, the Union Pacific’s Rochelle Intermodal site has the easy access and modern facility. This yard is less than an hour away and all the intermodal sites can take pressure off any area business looking to lower their shipping costs.
